Control - Interlocks

Interlocks can be divided into those that inhibit the motor from starting and stop it if it is running, and permissive that enable a motor to start but do not stop it when or if that permission is withdrawn. If motor starters are located in MCCs or switchboards a cubicle or compartment of that MCC or switchboard should be dedicated to the interlocking and automatic operation relays or the equivalent programmable logic controllers.
